Overview
The Dental Chart is an interactive odontogram. Click any tooth, and a detail panel lets you mark conditions on each of its five surfaces (mesial, distal, occlusal, buccal, lingual). Conditions render as colour blocks on the chart, with a legend and a running summary underneath.
Activation
- 1Dashboard → Add-ons → Dental Chart → Activate.
- 2Settings → define the condition types you track (caries, filling, crown, missing, implant, root canal, bridge, veneer, sealant). Each has a colour and an FDI code.
Adult vs deciduous
Every client's chart can switch between adult (permanent) and deciduous (baby) dentition. The add-on uses FDI numbering — 1–32 for adult, 51–85 for primary — and renders the right tooth count automatically.
Children
For pediatric patients mid-transition, flip between the two views as needed — they're per-chart, not per-session.
Recording conditions
- 1Search for the client. The chart loads with any existing conditions painted in.
- 2Click a tooth — the detail modal opens with its five surfaces.
- 3Pick a condition per affected surface, add notes if needed, save.
- 4The chart repaints instantly with the new colours.
Statistics & legend
Below the chart, a stats panel shows the totals: healthy teeth, affected teeth, per-condition counts. The legend maps colour to condition so the chart reads at a glance.
Printing
Print the chart for a case folder or a referral letter. The PDF includes the patient name, the date, the chart, the legend, and the statistics panel. Attach it to a medical record for a complete visit document.
Tips
- Record per surface, not per tooth. A filling on the occlusal says something very different from a crown — the surface is the clinical detail.
- Use the notes field — it's the difference between "caries on 36" and "caries on 36, distal, developing under existing filling".
- Pair the chart with clinical imaging. A tooth reference on an X-ray and a matching colour on the chart is a tight clinical loop.
